Lemon for weight loss – origin
The biggest source of vitamin C is the lemon that, just like the tangerine, orange, and grapefruit, belongs to the winery family (Rutacaea). The lemon tree or Citrus Limon originally comes from Southeast Asia and was spread along the Mediterranean coast by the Arabs. The trees grow in areas with frost-free winters and warm summers. After it became known that eating lemons prevented scurvy, Columbus took seeds to the new world, as a result of which they now also grow on American soil.

Lemon for weight loss – the trees
The lemon trees grow up to 5 metres high and have oval dark green leaves. The white fragrant flowers, hanging alone or in bunches, have their main flowering in the spring, but the tree can be in bloom throughout the year under the right conditions. The lemons can be harvested up to four times a year and give different types of fruit depending on the season. The white-yellow lemon, Bianchetto or Maiolino grows in the spring while the light green lemons, Verdello, are harvested in the summer. The lemon only forms its yellow skin at colder temperatures and this is how you get the Primofiore that can be harvested from October to April. This last type contains the most juice and has the highest acidity.
Lemon for weight loss – Vitamin C
Naturally present Vitamin C is a molecule that has different functions in our metabolism and therefore strengthens our immune system, But it is also the biggest adversary of microbes, parasites and viruses. Vitamin C will act as an antioxidant and neutralise free radicals in your body and thus protect it against diseases caused by these reactive and harmful substances.
Free radicals cause the deactivation of essential proteins in your body. As for example, the thyroxine, a vulnerable protein produced by the thyroid gland. Thyroxine is the key in our metabolism and gives rise to obesity if there is too little of it in your body. Ascorbic acid protects this sensitive hormone against free radicals and therefore maintains a healthy balance in our metabolism.

Vitamin C is also a building block for your connective tissue, collagen. Collagen is, as it were, the glue between your cells and tissues and plays an important role in the firmness of the blood vessel walls. A shortage of collagen is the cause of wrinkles. Furthermore, vitamin C will ensure a better absorption of iron through your intestines; a deficiency of iron causes anaemia (anaemia) and manifests itself through fatigue, headaches and reduced performance.
Vitamin C not only increases your resistance and beauty but also ensures a more stable mindset. This is due to its role in the production of various hormones, nerve peptides and neurotransmitters, which affect your feelings.
In short, vitamin C ensures a healthy mind and a healthy body.

The natural fruit fibres in SkinnyLove made from lemon, grapefruit and mandarin ensure that harmful waste products are broken down and excreted in your body. The acidic fruit fibres also numbs your appetite. The prickly pear will promote the excretion of fats.
The dietary fibres have a prebiotic effect, which means that they are a good source of nutrition for the body’s own bacteria in the intestinal wall. This promotes intestinal peristalsis and therefore the bowel function.
Green coffee and green tea provide a better combustion.
The different herbs and spices such as ginger and turmeric each have their own specific effects and mainly provide a supportive effect for the purification of the body.
